A national health system emerging from the past

Despite the near complete devastation of its infrastructure and human resources during the period from 1975‐1979, and the further challenges that beset the nation during the following two decades as it sought to divest itself of the Khmer Rouge insurgency and reopen doors to international engagement and development, the Cambodian health system is recovering rapidly, and while numerous challenges remain, Cambodians are fortunate to have a proactive reformist Health Ministry.
